Jonjo Shelvey showcased exactly what he could do from a dead ball situation when he rendered an unstoppable shot for United's custodian. Liverpool reserves will finish third after their fixture against Man Utd ended 2-2.

Pep Segura fielded a strong team including some first team contenders such as Joe Cole, Christian Poulsen, David Ngog and of course Jonjo Shelvey.

Man Utd took the lead through Nicholas Ajose. However Liverpool's No.33 scored the equaliser for Liverpool.

The man who arrived from Chelsea (Joe Cole) was next to get on the score-sheet though you could argue that his shot was deflected heavily by Nikola Saric.

Liverpool were not to hold out their lead as, Gabriel Obertan leveled the scores.

Here is what Pep had to say:

"Shelvey demonstrated his quality and he had a fantastic game,

"He wants to grow as a player and play for the first team. He was focused and he was a good example for our young players.

"We could have won the game but maybe a draw was a fair result.

"Manchester United played well, sometimes we played well but we were disappointed to concede a late goal.

"It was a good experience for the young players to get the chance to play alongside the first team squad players and they will learn a lot from that," he added.

Liverpool reserves skipper (Andre Wisdom) was quick to agree with the Pep Segura.

"It's always a good experience when you get the chance to play alongside quality experienced players because you can learn a lot from them.

"I enjoyed playing alongside Danny Wilson. He is a great player and we also have a good relationship off the pitch.

"Overall it was a fair result but the lads are disappointed we couldn't keep our 2-1 lead."
