Liverpool continued their fine form under Kenny Dalglish at home with a comfortable victory over Newcastle United. Liverpool looked dangerous from the start on a sunny day at Anfield. Academy graduate - Jack Robinson was eased to the bench as Glen Johnson returned from injury to replace the teenager at left-back. John Flannagan retained his place in the first team and helped Liverpool score the crucial first goal.
The youngster delivered a fantastic cross which was headed away poorly by Newcastle's defence and last week's hat-trick hero was at the end of the clearance to slot home Liverpool's first goal.
The rest of the half passed on without Liverpool threatening much, Newcastle though came close a couple of times. One of these chances arrived to Kevin Nolan who's effort from long range was wide of goal.
Liverpool's second goal arrived in the second half thanks to some quick feet, and a clever mind which was controlled by an Uruguayan named Luis Suarez. The South American glided through Newcastle's defence from the left hand side and earned Liverpool a penalty. The penalty was taken by Dirk Kuyt as usual with our inspirational caption out with injury. The Dutchman converted with ease as he sent the keeper the wrong way.
The second goal as mentioned above was assisted by Liveprool's No.7 and scored by Liverpool's No.18. Liverpool's duracell that is Dirk Kuyt returned the favour to Luis Suarez as Liverpool sealed a comfortable victory which will see them clinch take 5th spot having played 1 game more than the club they replaced - Tottenham.
Elsewhere Arsenal beat Man Utd. 1-0 thanks to an Aaron Ramsey goal to keep Liverpool's hopes of retaining their record of 18 league titles alive. (That is tied record) .
