The vice-captain will move joint-second in the club's list of all-time appearance holders if he faces Newcastle on Sunday, joining Emlyn Hughes and Ray Clemence on 665 games for the Reds.
Reina feels it is a fitting honour for one of Liverpool's finest servants and has been quick to join the growing list of greats to salute our No.23's feat.
"It's some achievement,
"To play 665 games for any team is unbelievable and says it all about him. Carra is the head and shoulders of Liverpool and probably one of the best players to ever play for this club.
"I hope it is just another one of many more games he plays because I am sure he won't stop and will continue to play for many years."
Ian Callaghan currently holds the record number of appearances having featured 857 times for the club.
However, Reina is refusing to rule Carragher out of the running for that accolade just yet.
"I don't know if he can catch him," he said. "Hopefully he can. He wants to and I am sure of it because he is so dedicated. He loves what he does.
"If he keeps his form then who knows. But time goes fast for everybody. He has to enjoy the fact he has played so many games and hopefully there will be more."
By his own admission, Carragher is now in the twilight of his playing career.
The 33-year-old is often touted as a future manager of Liverpool and Reina is convinced he would fit the bill perfectly.
He added: "He can be a manager, most definitely.
"He is the one who is loudest on the pitch and has more of a manager's mentality than anyone. I expect him to be a coach one day in the future."
