Kenny Dalglish will look to cut away a great deal of deadwood this summer with the onus being on removing the players brought in during the brief, but memorable, Roy Hodgson reign.
Defensive midfielder Christian Poulsen looks set to return back to Denmark with Danish sources stating that the former Juventus man, who cost Liverpool £4.5m last summer, is a target of FC Copenhagen. The 31 year old won the domestic title twice with the club in 2001 and 2002 and manager Ståle Solbakken is keen to bring the experienced battler back to the club.
Joe Cole is being courted by Tottenham and the player who arrived on a free last summer could net a cool £10m according to some sources as Harry Redknapp looks to reunite with his former Hammers star. The 29 year old has barely featured in the Liverpool first team under Dalglish but did manage to net his second Premier League goal during Saturday’s 5-0 drubbing of Birmingham City.
Milan Jovanovic has similarly failed to prove to Dalglish his worth and the Serbian international is wanted by a number of Bundesliga sides and could fetch up to £5m. It seems that Roy Hodgson felt that the former Standard Liege man would work best out wide even though the powerful forward made a name for himself in Belgium up front where he managed to net 69 goals in four seasons but has yet to find the net in Premier League action for Liverpool.
Paul Konchesky’s Liverpool career seems over due to a combination of looking very poor when employed to fill the problem area of left back and by the manner in which the player’s mother laid into the club’s supporters. Fulham are said to be interested in the defender and could be willing to pay around £2-3m for his services.
Nabil El Zhar and Philipp Degen look likely to turn their loan moves to PAOK Salonika and Stuttgart respectively into permanent deals and as neither player cost Liverpool any money in transfer fees and decent offer will more than likely be accepted.
