The youngster has done brilliantly in a midfield consisting of Raul Meireles and Lucas Leiva. When the news came out (That Stevie G got injured) many a Liverpool fan would have been thinking that an experienced midfielder such as Maxi Rodriguez or Joe Cole would fill in. Kenny Dalglish though has shown his faith in youngsters again and as a result has found an absolute gem in Jay Spearing. Here is what Raul Meireles had to say about the academy graduate.
"Jay is a fantastic player and a fantastic teammate,"
"He has worked hard in training, he deserves his chance and he is doing well.
"He is a good lad off the pitch as well and I am pleased for him.
"I think it's good seeing some of the young lads getting a chance and for the future of the club it's important.
"I watch the reserves on LFC TV and there is a lot of quality."
