Liverpool's Last Game at Anfield Ends In A Defeat

Liverpool's fine form under Kenny Dalglish came to an abrupt halt after goals from Rafael Ferdinand van der Vaart and Luka Modrić led Tottenham into 5th spot.

Spurs started well and got their reward for it, Rafael Van der Vaart's volley from distance took a slight deflection off Glen Johnson and went into Pepe Reina's net.

The rest of the half was 'stop-start' due to some tough tackles and a few  out-brakes.

Liverpool's were getting frustrated, and it showed when consistent full-back John Flanagan gave  away a controversial penalty.

The naive youngster went shoulder to shoulder with Steven Pienaar at the edge of the box, only to see the referee point to the spot. Though Liverpool players were dumbfounded by the decision they could not keep Luka Modric from converting the penalty.

Liverpool fans will still have hope as always that Tottenham will either draw or lose their final game and that Liverpool will be able to win theirs.
