Liverpool vs Fulham Review

It was another emphatic night for Liverpool, as they ran home 5-2 winners against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Maxi Rodriguez netted his second hat-trick for Liverpool with Dirk Kuyt and Luis Suarez also getting on the score-sheet.

Liverpool opened the scorings within a minute after the kick-off. Luis Suarez left Fulham's defense in sixes and sevens and unselfishly tried to tee-up someone but failed to do so.
However, after a few failed attempts to clear the ball, Maxi Rodriguez ran in to net his 5 in 3 games.

Within 6 minutes after netting his first, Maxi Rodriguez netted his and Liverpool's second. Glen Johnson who was playing at right-back delivered a beautiful cross after skipping past Fulham defender (Salcido). Maxi Rodriguez met it with an impressive left-footed finish.

Liverpool's third was a 'gift' as the commentator described it. Dirk Kuyt equaled his record tally for Liverpool in a season when his shot beat experienced keeper - Mark Schwarzer near post.

Liverpool seemed to take their foot of the pedal for the rest of the half, as it went on without much goalmouth action.

Fulham started the second half brightly and got their reward for it. In a well crafted move Fulham set-up Moussa Dembele who's left footed finish beat Reina and went in to the bottom left corner of the net (Reina's right).

Fulham's supportive fans spurred their team on, and tried to give them hope and confidence. It was demolished though, when a rocket of a shot went past Mark Schwarzer in the 'blink of an eye'. As you may have guessed, it was Maxi Rodriguez who is arguable in the form of his life who let the shot fly.

Though the players who have gotten on the score-sheet thus far are only Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodriguez, Luis Suarez certainly deserved a goal. He in particular had twisted, turned, and teased Fulham's defense. He got what we and many other would feel he deserved, after a delightful ball from teenager - Jonjo Shelvey saw him through on goal. 'El Pistolero' That is Luis Suarez faked the keeper, and rolled in to conclude his wonderful performance.

The score-sheet wasn't complete yet. Not until another rocket was let fly. This time by Steve Sidwell towards Pepe Reina, which left Liverpool's custodian with no chance.

Liverpool move up to 5th with this result, and very much have that spot in their hands. Next week's clash against Tottenham will probably be the decider on who will finish 5th and who will finish 6th.
